I’m writing a new post about the Christmas movies, IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE and A CHRISTMAS CAROL, as well as THE GRAPES OF WRATH, the movie. I’ll have it out in the wee hours or sometime tomorrow. In the meantime, please enjoy Bruce Springsteen‘s “The Ghost of Tom Joad” as a little precursor to mood and theme. “Bruce!”

Beautiful song selection! Looking forward to your blog, I’ve seen “It’s a Wonderful Life” at least 25 times. We watch it every year and each time I see new levels of connections and symbolism within all levels of the film; between the characters, inside the scenery, even the wardrobe. It is a joy to watch every time.
Cris, I’m going to watch this year with your comments in mind. The scenery and wardrobe…how intriguing. Of course it’s part of the message, but I hadn’t even thought of that.
